1950s Ukulele

After it feel out of favor in the 1940s, the ukulele saw a big resurgence in popularity in the 1950s. This was almost exclusively due to the popularity of Arthur Godfrey. His appearances with a baritone ukulele catapulted him and the ukulele to great fame.

Another factor in the resurgence was the lowering of the cost of ukuleles in particular the introduction of plastic ukuleles such as the Maccaferri and the Emenee Flamingo (which was endorsed by Godfrey).
